If you’re missing one or more of your teeth, you may want to consider getting dental implants.
Dental implants are a type of implant that is placed directly into your jawbone, and act as a replacement for the root for your missing teeth. They are designed to support either crowns or dentures, helping you rebuild that perfect smile.
The implants are usually made from titanium and are screwed onto either your crown or denture. The jawbone will then eventually grow around the implant, fixing it in place.
A single implant doesn’t mean a single tooth. If you are missing more than one tooth in the same area, you may only need a single implant.
There could be any number of reasons you have lost teeth – tooth decay, trauma, old age or gum disease are the more common causes.
Implants will allow you to eat normally again and they will also give you confidence in your smile.
They are suitable for anyone at any age that is in good health, has good oral hygiene, and has sufficient jawbone quality and quantity.
Placing dental implants can take a series of appointments to complete. Scan technology helps us assess your suitability for implant treatment. It also helps us determine the size of the implant and where it should be placed on your jawbone.
The soft tissue is then prepared under local anaesthesia, before we drill a small hole in your jawbone for the implant. We then insert the titanium implants and wait for the bone to grow around them, which takes between two to six months.
Once the bone has grown around the implants, a crown, bridge or denture is fixed on top of it.
With good oral care and hygiene, implants can last a lifetime.
Dental implants are a game changer for many of our patients.
Not only do you get an attractive smile, you will also be able to eat properly and speak with confidence. You will also protect your jawbone and help keep the bone healthy.
With implants, you won’t need to shy away from showing that gorgeous grin.
