It's never too late to improve your quality of life with dental implants.
Implant-supported dentures or implant dentures are a type of denture that are firmly attached to two or more implants, giving you the ultimate comfort and peace of mind of wearing a secure denture.
- Stop worrying about your denture becoming loose or falling out
- Say goodbye to denture adhesives and powders
- Enjoy the freedom and confidence of stable, secure teeth
- Speak with ease
- Chew without problems and eat whatever you like
- They feel more natural than a normal denture as the denture no longer covers the roof of your mouth (the fixed upper denture is a horseshoe shape which enables your tongue to touch the roof of your mouth)
- Remove, clean and replace the denture easily
Our Implant Dentist will carry out a thorough assessment of your mouth, gums and teeth and plan your implant denture treatment.
A CT scan x-ray, will help guide our Implant Dentist as to how many implants will be needed and where the dental implants need to be placed for the overdenture. You may need 2 -6 dental implants. If your CT scan indicates insufficient bone levels, we can perform bone grafting to enable you to have implant dentures
At your next appointment, we place all the implants into your jawbone in one appointment. We normally use local anaesthetic to ensure the procedure is comfortable.
We open the gum, drill a small hole into the jaw bone and place the implants into the opening. The implants are left to heal for 3 to 6 months during which they become an integral part of your jaw bone
It is however possible to fix the dentures to the implants at the same time that the implants are placed into the jaw. See the All on 4 teeth treatment
During the healing phase, you will continue to wear your denture, ensuring no forces are placed on the healing implants.
When the implants are fully healed, we will take impressions or moulds of your jaw so that your implant denture can be custom made. About two weeks later, your final natural looking denture is fixed to the implants with a special retainer system, which consist of two components. One component is permanently attached to the implant, its counterpart is attached to the denture.
The components click together and your denture is securely in place, providing a much better cosmetic and functional result.
In certain cases, your own denture may be able to be adjusted and fitted to the implants.
