Missing teeth can lead to problems with self-esteem, eating and speaking and your dentist will always recommend that you replace any missing teeth to prevent future dental conditions.
Dental implants are currently replacing dentures and bridges as the tooth replacement option of choice in Hounslow, as they are longer-lasting, provide a natural appearance and prevent other oral health problems from developing.
The dental implant is permanently inserted into your jaw and looks and feels like your own natural teeth and can be used to replace one or two missing teeth or even a full set.
A dental implant is a small titanium post that acts the same way as the tooth’s natural root structure. The procedure for dental implant placement is very straightforward. You will go for a series of appointments with your dentist, who will assess your mouth with x-rays and impressions. After this the soft tissue in your mouth will be prepared under general anaesthetic and a small hole will be drilled where the dental implant will be inserted.
Once the bone has grown around the implant, a crown, denture or bridge will be placed onto the dental implant. Please note that it can take anywhere between two to six months for the bone to fuse with the implant.
Once your implant is completely settled your tooth or teeth replacement will be fitted and your ability to eat, speak, smile and laugh will be restored.
